Recorded at State of Art and Coach House Studios in Bristol, Dummy is the cornerstone of the trip-hop genre. Moving away from the upbeat acid house of the era, Geoff Barrow and Beth Gibbons created a haunting, cinematic soundscape that famously utilized "fake" sampling—recording their own instrumentation to vinyl, distressing it, and then sampling it back into the mix. This 2017 Pallas pressing is highly regarded for its superior dynamic range compared to standard reissues.
