Dimiter Petkov (bass)
Shostakovitch: Symphony No. 13 "Babi Yar"
(HMV ASD 3911 UK LP 1980)
This is a UK Stereo LP 1st pressing in very nice condition! It has a shiny matt sleeve. This has its original 1980 UK record shop (HMV) price sticker on the front. It has its original generic "EMI" printed polythene inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has red "postage stamp" HMV labels. These have the "EMI Records Ltd..." text around the upper perimeter. The record has 1st press 2YEA 7010-2 and 2YEA 7011-1 matrix numbers.
This is a genuine UK 1st pressing of this rare UK Stereo Classical LP. An extremely moving symphony relating to the World War 2 "Babi Yar" massacre. In very nice overall condition too. I have some other rare & collectable 1950's & 1960's Classical Stereo UK 1st pressing LP's for sale. So please see my other listings.
Sleeve: As stated, it still has its original 1980 UK record shop price sticker on the front. This could be carefully removed if desired. However, I would suggest leaving it as it is. It adds a certain period charm. There is some light or very minor rubbing wear to the corner tips. There are a couple of bits of minor rubbing wear on the top area of the spine. Otherwise, the spine is in great condition. There is a very light crease on the rear sleeve. This is at the centre spine area. It doesn't notice that much. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear on a few areas. Very NEAR EXCELLENT condition.
Vinyl: There are two extremely small "L" shaped hairline marks on Side 2. They are practically invisible to the naked eye. However, they are visible when magnified. They cause some intermittent light or very mild clicks two-thirds of the way through Side 2. They do not last too long. Please see below for a full playback description.
Otherwise, there are a very few light or very minor sleeve rubs can barely be seen under a strong light. The vinyl looks in Excellent to Excellent+ condition. However, because of the barely visible light hairline marks that cause some clicks. Overall, Very Good++ condition. The labels are in Near Mint condition and show next to no spindle wear. The company polythene inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing only. There are no seam splits.
I have play tested this LP in its entirety. Side 1 plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall & Excellent+ in many places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle in a few places. There are a very few light or very mild clicks in two separate places on Side 1. Side 2 plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in many places. As stated, there are two very small, barely visible, "L" shaped hairline marks that cause 4 or 5 light, mild or very mild clicks in two separate places. This is about two-thirds of the way through Side 2. There are also 4 or 5 light or very mild clicks at the very start of Side 2. There is a bit of intermittent more moderate crackle at the end of Side 2. This doesn't last too long.
This LP would definitely benefit from a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Any crackle is just due to deep down dirt in the grooves. Some of the clicks, apart from the aforementioned clicks on Side 2, are just due to deep down dirt in the grooves too.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this.
NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.
EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...
NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing, ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.
Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!
>> Postage Rates AN INVOICE WILL BE SENT TO YOU VERY SOON AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS. PLEASE WAIT FOR THIS BEFORE PAYING.
DISCOUNT WILL BE GIVEN ON POSTAGE FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS.
All records will be sent in high quality packaging. All records will be extremely carefully & securely packaged to ensure safe arrival to you. The dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment. I always remove the inner/ LP from the sleeve & place them, with the sleeve, in a polythene outer sleeve. This will prevent seam splits to the sleeve during the shipping process. I often remove the vinyl from the original inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your records.
If you are uncertain about any of the above, or just simply want some information regarding any item, please do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome any questions.
Remember to check out My Other Items Lots of rare & quality vinyl! Most are UK 1st Pressings. It is quite likely that there will be more records by this artist, or records in a similar vein.
