Another one from our own personal collection!
An original 1984 A2/B2 early press copy of Prince and the Revolution- Purple Rain.
The iconic soundtrack to the film featuring many epic Prince tracks including When Doves Cry, Let’s Go Crazy plus the anthemic title track- see photos for full track listing.
This is the superior Sheffield Lab UK pressing which sounds far more dynamic and has thunderous bass compared to a standard UK pressing ( the Sheffield Lab Triangle matrix can be seen in the photos). Pressed at Alsdorf Germany.
We owned both and the Sheffield Lab wiped the floor with the standard UK which sounded flat and compressed in comparison.
The record has been ultrasonically cleaned in our amazing Degritter and has come up spotlessly clean with a lustrous sheen, a few minor scuffs and hairlines visible, but nothing major and nothing that affects playback.
Clean labels and spindle holes - graded EX.
Playback is HUGE- massive, wide and detailed, very dynamic and crisp sound, blistering, sweeping and majestic - a captivating album from start to finish. The end of Let’s Go Crazy where the bass kicks in just shakes the room….
There is some low crackle/ noise at the start of Side 1 Track 1 which quickly subsides, afterwards it plays through beautifully with no jumping, sticking or skipping.
The outer sleeve is solid and crisp overall with some wear to edges plus one corner has been chewed (see photos). A sticker removal mark to the front top has removed a little of the surface.
No writing, splits, tape or stains.
The original inner lyric sleeve is present (with minor corner nibbling). We have popped the record into a brand new poly lined inner sleeve to keep it pristine after cleaning - you will receive this also.
A great copy to own, play and enjoy, fully cleaned & tested, ready to pop straight onto your turntable & blast out!
