Description
For Auction: PRINCE – “Black Album - Noir 69” LP, 1988 Erotic City Records with blacked-out labels i.e. no printed text at all on the record labels. This is the very first pressing of this album. It is hard to photograph since the images on the sleeve are gloss black on matte black. The front cover just has the ID sticker reading: Prince Black Album along with the gloss black image of Prince. The back cover has the unnumbered song titles, the early version of his symbol (male/female symbols combined) and text reading: 1988 Erotic City Records and Noir 69. The vinyl has the runout inscription that reads "Noir-69-A" on the A side and "Noir 69-B" on the B side.
I bought this LP new in 1988, I am the only owner, and it’s never been played (I bought another copy to play). At the time in 1988 there was a rumor circulating after “LoveSexy” was released that Prince had recorded another album called “The Black Album” but no one knew how to get a copy of it or if a copy even existed. Then this super nice “bootleg” appeared at my local DJ’s record store and so I bought a couple of copies. The sound quality is fantastic, in my opinion, and so I was very happy. It wasn’t until November 22, 1994 that Warner Bros. released their “official” version of The Black Album. Even though it’s a boot, and a nice one at that, I still consider this version the first and original Black Album. Later copies of this version had the songs printed on the record label.
Condition: Vinyl is in NM condition and never played by me. The cover is also NM having not been handled much at all so no dirt or finger grease smugs on the gloss black graphics over matte black background. There are a few very tiny white scuff marks on the upper R corner of the front cover and one tiny white spot on the lower middle area of the front cover, both barely visible. Otherwise the cover is in absolutely beautiful condition. Please review photos for condition verification. The item(s) in this auction were bought and collected by me when they were originally released. I am a long time fan of Prince and his protégés. Every item I am selling is original and NOT a re-issue, re-release, copy or bootleg. I am happy to offer my collection at reasonable auction start prices. Almost every record I'm selling has never been played by me, but in the case of promotional items they may have been played by radio stations or by the person who owned them before me. The majority of my records are graded VG+ to NM, with a few in sealed Mint condition. Happy bidding and may you all "live to see the dawn."
Shipping: All opened vinyl records are carefully removed from their covers, placed in paper sleeves and packaged for shipping outside their covers with cardboard between and packed in special shipping boxes designed specifically for shipping records.
Multiple forms of payment are available. Shipping within the USA will utilize USPS Media Mail unless otherwise instructed from the buyer. Shipping to Europe will utilize Ebay International Shipping with the cost being determined by the address of the buyer. Feel free to ask any questions prior to the end of the auction. I strive for 5 star service and smooth, easy transactions.price rating
