I've graded the vinyl and sleeve VG+ =
A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Defects should be more of a cosmetic nature, not affecting the actual playback as a whole. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Spindle marks may be present. Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner.
PLEASE SEE PHOTOS AS PART OF DESCRIPTION
I have cleaned and play-tested both sides of the record and it plays really well and still sounds great!
I'm selling a lot of my vinyl and CD collection, because the kids are getting bigger and the house is getting smaller! Basically, it was either the kids or the records, sadly the coin came down tails...Thanks for looking!
ONLINE REVIEW
Originally released as a 12-track compilation in 1968, this is an album greatly revered by diehard fans of all things ska (the now defunct UK music magazine VOX awarded it 10 out of 10 stars).
The album's held in such high esteem because Prince Buster is considered to be the godfather of ska, and many of these tracks were covered by bands of the UK's 2-Tone scene in the late-70's / early-80's, in fact Madness named themselves after the track that coincidentally opens this collection.
There's no denying Prince Buster's significance in the development and emergence of ska as the musical form that led to reggae, and eventually rap.
This album has served as my introduction to Prince Buster and the original Ska sound. it is only when listening to this that it becomes clear just how much bands such as Madness and Specials owe to this man and his music. (They acknowledge this influence many times over the years).
The songs here are loaded with charm - some of the recordings sound a little antiquated by modern standards, but that is the joy of them - they are a pleasure to play.
The songs are loaded with atmosphere, occasionally with a tale to tell but always delivered with no little amount of swagger.
