Description
“Folk-Rock in a Stone Groove”… indeed. Here’s a bizarre outsider psych LP by Dane Sturgeon. The album is entitled “Wild ‘n’ Tender” on the private press Stur-Geon records label, number TS-100. The vinyl grades a strong VG+, and the cover is in nice shape with a 5” seam split on top, no writing tape or other problems, nice graphics. I’ve owned (and enjoyed) a copy of this LP for years, and it is really hard to describe it- part psychedelic, part cowboy music, part Roy Orbison, part Spector’s wall of sound… it’s all in there. Heck, the album was even recorded Gold Star studios, the same place where Phil Spector created all of those great records. And to top it off, the songwriting is just plain weird. “Ghost of Bardsley Road” is about a ghost on a motorcycle that races kids and kills them, with plenty of maniacal laughter. “Queen Bee” and “Hurricane” are each a about a lover who ruins lives. “Whip of Love”… well, that needs no further explanation. The LP was interesting enough to gain mention in the acid archives. Great copy of a very interesting record! Drop me a message if ebay doesn’t calculate shipping for you.
