Description
In the world of new progressive rock there are fans of Steven Wilson forever whingeing about the demise of his previous band, Porcupine Tree, and his betrayal of 'difficult' music for pastures new. It's all chatroom rubbish, of course. Any artist worth his salt wants to move on, try new things and build on what they've done before. This 5-LP-recording of one of his three-nights at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018 showcases the full range of his career high points, with a hugely-talented band (featuring Nick Beggs on bass - almost worth the price of entry on his own!) and stunning sound. There's plenty of tricksy time signatures, brutal riffing and the presence of the brilliant Ninet Tayeb on several songs. You'd have to be a real grinch of a prog fan not to find this all mind-blowing stuff. Highly recommended!
