Title:   “The Charlatans”

Label:   PHILIPS ~ # PHS-600-309.  Stereo pressing on medium weight vinyl.  Label is black with silver text. 

Year:  1969.

Condition: 

DISC:  Vinyl is gorgeous NM-, a beauty!  The playing surface is immaculate, except a few very light paper scuffs.  Disc has a high luster- has been played a small number of times and handled with care.  Plays beautifully with superb fidelity.  Labels are clean, except small bit of writing on Side 1.

JACKET:  Jacket is VG to VG+ with noticeable surface wear and moderate ring wear.  Top and bottom seams have splitting, and some clear tape along part of seams.  Tiny cut-out drill hole at bottom left corner.  Wear is present at the corners, and there is a noticeable stain along the right opening edge.  No writing or stickers.  Far from perfect, but still an overall decent jacket to accompany the beautiful disc.

“The self-titled Charlatans album, later released as San Francisco 1969, is a rather gorgeous and gently challenging piece of San Francisco rock, incorporating elements of blues and big-band swing, as well as '50s rock & roll and elegant '60s pop.  It might not be as quite as overpowering creatively as the best records by the Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver, or Grateful Dead, but it is one of the prettiest and most subtly beguiling albums to come out of the '60s San Francisco scene, and is also essential listening, as well as being just plain delightful.
