Description
This is a copy of Puccini's opera "La Boheme" as issued in a box set by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. The cast includes Mirella Freni (Mimi), Luciano Pavarotti (Rodolfo), Elizabeth Harwood (Musetta), Rolando Panerai (Marcello), Nicolai Ghiaurov (Colline), and Gianni Maffeo (Schaunard) with Herbert von Karajan conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. It was recorded in 1973. There are two LPs and a libretto. The LPs are in remarkable condition with almost no surface noise. The sound is extremely open and transparent with a lot of detail. The records are in individual sleeves and lay in a larger box case. The box case is in very good condition with only a small tear along the top center rear cover. It is mostly hidden by the front box cover. The front and back sides do not show any wear. The lower edges of the individual paper sleevers have a small split along the lower edge. The libretto is in perfect condition with no bends or creases. A rare recording in a limited edition as #04868. The performance is really nice as well. I bought this record new and have only played it twice on a VPI turntable with a Lyra Helikon cartridge. My records have also cleaned with a VPI record cleaner.
