Visual grading

  Under a bright light there are no hairlines or scratches to be seen and visually is in superb condition, it looks like it was pressed yesterday.  There are only one or two tiny spindle lines on the labels which confirms the vinyl has only been played a handful of times and perhaps even less.  Unsurprisingly it still has that lovely glossy sheen of new vinyl.  The gatefold has also been extremely well looked after over the years.

Play grading  

There is a little lead in static and then 'Tie Your Mother Down' plays with exemplary quality and no interference.  'You Take My Breath Away' has a little static in the background but is very much that, in the background.  It in no way detracts from the stunning clarity that can be heard.  The remaining tracks play with equal quality with again just a little static in some of the quieter sections.  Overall though for a rare first pressing the quality is excellent and there are no clicks or jumps at all.  The clarity and richness of sound is of a very high quality and will not disappoint.

'Somebody To Love' has light crackle right at the beginning but soon disappears and then plays very clearly with no issues.  "White Man' again plays with excellent clarity although just before the drum ending there is a little 'raspy' interference for half a second.  The same sound can be heard during 'Good Old Fashioned Loverboy' for half a second again but the remainder of the track plays superbly well.  'Drowse' has excellent clarity again and 'Let Us Cling Together' has a little interference here and there but still plays very well.

Gatefold cover

The G & L gatefold has stood the test of time very well when you consider so many of these are found battered and bruised!  Overall it is a very clean but does have a little rubbing on the edges and a few creases mainly on the reverse side.  Each end of the wide spine has a little shelf wear as do the other corners but as I say I think this gatefold is in excellent shape for a first pressing.  There are no marks anywhere and it also has a very clean and barely handled opening edge.

Lyric inner

This die-cut inner is in near perfect condition.  There is only slight rubbing to one side but it has not worn through.
