Description
On offer here is a superb first press copy of "A Night At The Opera". I have honestly not seen a better copy.
The matrix numbers are YAX 5063-2 AND YAX 5064-2 with the famous Blairs (not "Blairs cut") etched into the dead wax which confirms it as a first press.
The mother stampers are RAD 5 and ROP 4
The vinyl is in amazing condition. Side 1 I would grade as Near Mint as under a bright light I cannot detect one hairline. Side 2 is Ex++ as I can only see a few very faint "wispy" hairlines.
The Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold cover is also in Near Mint (practically mint) condition and looks incredible with only a couple of very minor marks in the top left hand corner. There is no discolouration which is so common of this classic LP and being an early pressing the cover doesn't have the glossy sheen of later versions and of course has the famous embossed crest. The open edge is in excellent condition also, so rare to find. The thick spine is Mint also, 100% legible.
The picture sleeve with the cut corners is in Mint condition. This has the thick card and I cannot stress how good it is.
Overall this copy is in fabulous condition, as I say I have not seen an early press in such good condition and has obviously hardly ever been played. I highly recommend it!
