Description

I will declare a lower amount on the customs form for all countries so as to avoid/decrease high import charges.  However, in the case of the EU all purchases are subject to VAT which eBay collect at point of sale.  No shipping to Russia currently.   Queen :  A Night At The Opera 2 / 2 1st Press 1975
This genuine first pressing plays with stunning quality across both sides with a clarity and definition that would be hard to beat.  There are no ticks, clicks or pops and the only background is 4/5 seconds of very light static at the beginning of each side.  It is hardly intrusive!  It is without doubt one of the finest first pressings I have ever heard and it's certainly rare to hear 'The Prophet's Song' and 'Love Of My Life' playing with such crystal clear audio.  Oh and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is quite good also!  i.e. stunning!  The vinyl is also in excellent order and this now 50 year old album could hardly play any better.  A real collectors' item!
The gatefold has been so well preserved and is one of the best I have seen in a long time.  It only has a little spotting on the inside cover and it has retained its original shape and structure perfectly.  The original picture inner has just one small split on the bottom edge but is otherwise in great condition.
As this a first pressing it has the 2/2 matrix and BLAIR'S on the run off and not Mr BLAIR'S CUT.

Visual description
The vinyl is in superb condition and still has a fine glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a small number of faint hairlines and a couple of radial lines on S2 that have no affect on the superb audio.  A couple of tiny blemishes that again do not impact on the audio and scarcely deserve a mention.  The labels are unmarked aside from some spindle wear.
Play Grading
The intro on 'Death On Two Legs' has some light static at the start and as it builds it plays very clearly with barely any background and there are no ticks, clicks or pops.  The piano section is perfect and Brian's solo is close to that with just one barely audible tick.  The first verse and chorus play with sublime quality and it continues in the same precise way with literally no intrusion.  Freddie at his vitriolic best!  The intro is Ex+ but from then on Mint- is deserved.
'Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon' plays with stunning clarity with no sign of any background, not even a dust tick.  Mint
The classic 'I'm In Love With My Car' is loud and strong from the word go and there is no intrusion.  Roger's opening vocal and chorus play with impeccable quality and it proceeds in the same way.  You can turn it up to max with no distortion, sonically is spectacular!  Roger's voice of course suits this track perfectly and Mint is deserved.
'You're My Best Friend' again shows how carefully this vinyl has been looked after.  From start to finish it plays beautifully with tremendous warmth and depth.  Even the fade out has no background.  Mint
The vocal / acoustic intro on '39' in flawless and Brian's opening vocal section is just as strong and clear.  The chorus is perfect as is the 'vocal' section that follows and this high end standard is kept up throughout.  The brief pause near the end is totally silent and the fade out again has no background.  Mint all the way.  Superb double bass work from John!
'Sweet Lady' plays with that typical dynamic quality you only find on a clean vinyl.  Underrated in my opinion it plays with phenomenal power and depth with no background whatsoever.  Again you crank it up to max without fear of distortion and the end instrumental is a prime example of that.  Mint
This has to be one of the cleanest versions of 'Seaside Rendezvous' that I have ever heard!  It is so often severely impacted by inner groove distortion but there is barely any here and many would say none I'm sure!  Such clean and precise audio and in a way surprising because this vinyl has been played but clearly only on high end equipment.  I honestly think Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio.  What a side!  So near perfect!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 'wind' intro on 'The Prophet's Song' has a little static at the beginning but the acoustic section is then as close to perfect as is possible with barely any background.  A rarity as it is often affected by intrusive static etc.  The opening vocal is faultless and the first verse and chorus are equally as strong.  It continues to play with phenomenal quality - put simply there is no interference and the clarity of sound is STUNNING.  The acapella vocal section plays with great clarity again - I only noticed a couple of barely audible ticks and even ticks is too strong a word for it!  As Brian's red special comes back in the audio is deep and resonant and the solo - perfect.  The final vocal is strong and clear and concluding acoustic section has no background at all.  As per S1 the first 4/5 seconds is Ex+ sand then Mint- from then onwards.
'Love Of My Life' plays with sublime clarity from start to finish, how rare is that?!  Normally there is a click or a tick at least but here the audio is crystal clear.  This is unequivocally one of the finest examples I have ever listened to - not bad for a 2/2 first pressing!  I cannot overstate how well it plays and Mint- is deserved at the very least.
'Good Company' is on the same level as that.  Ok a couple of mega quiet ticks on the intro but believe when I say they are barely audible.  The clarity belies the age of the album and Mint- is again fair.
The song that needs little introduction 'Bohemian Rhapsody' plays with supreme quality.  The first three verses play with a clarity and warmth that is second to none, a couple of insignificant statics that is all.  Brian's solo plays without fault and then the 'operatic' section plays with genuine quality also.  As I often say if there is any inner groove distortion it is barely noticeable and totally non-intrusive.  The 'heavy' section is just as impressive and the quiet end section plays with great clarity and... no intrusion.  Easily one of the cleanest versions you are ever likely to hear.  Mint-
'God Save The Queen' ends this classic album with no interference, not one tick etc.  A stunning Mint- finale.
The Gatefold & Picture Inner
The cover is in great condition and rarely seen as clean as this.  The edges and spine are in superb shape and the corner are exceptionally clean also as is the opening edge which has no handling wear.  The front cover has only a couple of very faint 'spots' and one very small sticker removal mark top left but overall it really is in superb condition with hardly any of the fading that you so often see.  The back cover is just as impressive with just one faint 'line' near the top edge on the left.  The inside of the gatefold has some light spots around the inner spine mainly near the bottom.  A fine example overall.
The picture inner, with the three cut corners, just has the usual split on the bottom edge but isn't large.  Aside from that it is in great shape with no marking, bending or creasing.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
