This collectable double LP was released in late 1991 and is one of the best I have ever seen or heard.  It plays with stunning quality and the gatefold is in near perfect condition.  A fantastic example.

Visual grading

The vinyls are in lovely condition and you can see they have only been very lightly played due to the lack of spindle wear.  There are no scratches just a few very faint sleeve removal hairlines that have no affect on the immaculate audio as detailed below.  They both retain a healthy glossy sheen and have 

Play grading

The audio quality across both vinyls is of an impeccable standard.  There is no lead in static on S1 and 'A Kind Of Magic' then plays with what can only be described as Mint audio.  The remainder of the side is equally impressive with no interference at all, the clarity is quite simply stunning.  This side plays 'as new' it is that good.  Wow!  Even the finger clicks have no 'background' on the 'Under Pressure' fade out!  S2 again plays with breathtaking quality.  A good example of this is the Spanish guitar section during 'Innuendo' which performs with no interference at all.  I cannot explain enough just how well this vinyl plays!  Every track again plays to perfection and 'Who Wants To Live Forever', so often beset with static/crackle, is quite possibly the best version I have heard...ever!  With so many quiet sections the clarity and depth is fantastic and I heard only a handful of mega quiet dust ticks.  Not a single click or pop anywhere on this side.  This is one beautifully preserved record!

S3 and S4 again greatly impress and it isn't necessary to go into detail regarding the audio quality, suffice to say that every track plays with wonderful clarity and precision and absolutely no interference.  The odd mega light dust tick perhaps but nothing intrusive.  It is a long time since I heard a GH2 playing as well as this.  'The Show Must Go On' plays with incredible power and there is no distortion at all.  'One Vision' ends this breathtaking first pressing with sublime quality and no 'background' once more.

In summary you would be hard pressed to find a better 'high end' version than this one.  It is in my opinion a final upgrade archive copy without a shadow of a doubt with a gatefold to match.  Infinitely preferable to own a first pressing like this rather than one of the recent reissues! 

Gatefold

This is quite possibly the best GH2 gatefold I have ever seen, it is incredibly clean and has been so well preserved down the years.  Hardly handled the edges and wide spine are in superlative condition, just a couple of tiny rubs on the latter, and the corners have barely any rubbing either.  The opening edges are in superb order with no handling wear.  The front cover of course has the faintly embossed Queen crest and there is no marking or scratching here at all and the same can be said for the back cover.  The inside of the gatefold is immaculate and looks as new.  This is as near to pristine as it gets and it would be nigh on impossible to find a better gatefold than this one, it is in stunning condition for 26 years old.

Picture sleeves

The first inner has just one tiny 'nick' on the top edge and a small amount of creasing around the thumb notch area but no splits anywhere.  The second is in perfect condition with no wear at all.

Labels

  The labels are extremely clean with a minimal amount of spindle wear only. There is just one tiny white mark on the S4 label.

Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers

The records have been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S cleaning machine
