Greatest Hits II

This collectable double LP was released in 1991 and is one of the 'cleanest' I have seen in a long time.  It plays with stunning audio and the gatefold remains in lovely condition.

Visual grading

Both vinyls have some very faint sleeve removal hairlines and S1 does have a couple of small scuff marks but they have no affect on the stunning audio as detailed below.  Yes they have been played but there is certainly not an excessive amount of spindle wear and they both retain a healthy glossy sheen with no scratches.

Play grading

The audio quality across both vinyls is of a wonderful standard.  'A Kind Of Magic' on S1 plays with Near Mint audio, just a miniscule amount of background static that you would find with a new vinyl let alone one that is 26 years old!  The remainder of the side has great depth and clarity although 'Under Pressure' has a little static in the quieter sections, nothing intrusive though and the vast majority grades as Near Mint without doubt.  S2 if anything plays even better with barely any static and even 'Who Wants To Live Forever' plays in impeccable style with almost no 'background'.  It is unquestionably one of the best versions I have ever heard on a GH2.  Stunning.

S3 again is extremely impressive and plays with a depth of sound that cannot be improved upon.  All tracks play with a sublime quality and there is no interference whatsoever.  Just a hint of mega light static on the 'Headlong' intro for 3, 4 seconds and between tracks but the audio really does play with immaculate quality.  S4 again does not disappoint.  'Hammer To Fall' is superb with no 'background' and the same can be said for the remaining tracks.  'The Show Must Go On' plays with such power and clarity you would think it was pressed yesterday.  No distortion, no clicks or pops, even the fade out plays beautifully!  'One Vision' ends this breathtaking early pressing with dynamic power and no interference again.

In summary you would be hard pressed to find a better 'high end' version than this one.  It is in my opinion a final upgrade archive copy without a shadow of a doubt with a gatefold to match.  Infinitely better to own a very early pressing like this rather than one of the recent reissues!

Gatefold

This is one of the cleanest gatefolds you will find.  It is notoriously difficult to keep it in its original condition as it is so prone to wear.  The edges have no shelf wear and the corners have only an absolute minimal amount of rubbing.  The spine is also in great shape and the opening edges look barely handled.  The front and back covers are so clean and are free of any obvious marking, there is just one tiny indentation on the front top left corner.  The inside of the gatefold is in superlative condition and looks as new.  The Queen crest is lightly embossed as per the early pressings.  Overall this is a superb 26 year old cover and it would be difficult to find better.

Picture sleeves

The first is in excellent condition with one very small split on one side and a couple of tiny corner creases (can hardly see them!) and the second is Mint with no wear.  Neither of them have any splits.

Labels

The labels are in great condition with no marking/writing.  Sides 1 & 2 have a few small lines of spindle wear and 3 & 4 very little.
