Sheer Heart Attack is a Queen album from 1974. This was their first commercial success, after the relatively lukewarm response to the first two albums, Queen, and Queen II. It was produced by Queen and Roy Thomas Baker for EMI in the UK, and Elektra in the US.!!!!!!!!
The first single, "Killer Queen" reached #2 in the British charts and provided Queen with their first US Top 20 hit peaking at #12 on the Billboard singles chart. Several songs from this album harken back to the earliest days of Queen and their predecessors Smile and Wreckage. "Brighton Rock" houses a guitar solo by Brian May, which began its life in the Smile song "Blag", then floated around in the live and BBC versions of the song "Son And Daughter", before finding its home in on the opening track here. The track begins with someone whistling the short melody "I do like to be beside the seaside", featured on "Seven Seas of Rhye", the last track from their previous album. "Stone Cold Crazy" was the first song credited to all four members of Queen but it had been played by Mercury's early band Wreckage. The original working title for "Tenement Funster" song was "Tin Dreams". "Misfire" is John Deacon's first composition to appear on a Queen album.!!!!!!
During Queen's first North American Tour (as a support band for Mott the Hoople) Brian felt ill with hepatitis (he had been infected with an unclean needle during a vaccination before the Australian tour), but he continued to work from hospital. When he was fit, the work continued in studio, but then he fell ill again, this time with a stomach ulcer. When he was recovering after an operation, the next tour had been canceled. Brian felt guilty, and was a bit nervous that someone would replace him in the band. Much to his relief, no one in the group had even considered it. All three members were continuing on recording without Brian at the time. Poor production had left a lot of spaces in the songs for Brian's solos. When he felt well enough, he came back and completed the tracks with guitar solos and backing vocals. "She Makes Me" used night-life recordings from New York. "Now I'm Here", released also as a single, was an idea of Brian in hospital, when he was thinking about touring with Mott the Hoople.!!!!!!!!!
The release of Sheer Heart Attack coincided with Queen's first tour of Japan, which caused country-wide hysteria with numerous Japanese fans watching the band's first tour in Asia.!!!!!!!
Drummer Roger Taylor was not satisfied with his hair on the original photograph, so the photographer used fake extensions, much to the band's amusement.!!!!!!!!!

The vinyl.
To start with I have played this track for track more than a few times. It is so easy to be critical about mid seventees EMI pressings but I can honestly say that the audio quality on this album will be hard to beat This plays very near perfect on my system I played this at very loud volume 'IT NEARLY SHOOK MY HOUSE DOWN!', THIS PLAYS ABSOLUTELY VERY NEAR PERFECT ON MY SYSTEM! ALMOST PLAYED AS NEW!!!. There was nothing that spoilt this awesome sounding album that I heard. Please note! So rare to find like this . EMI pressings soon changed to much flimsier type of vinyls that were much less superior!!!!!!
Visualy this still retains its original sheen from new And on initial inspection looks awsome!!!! in very strong light Any marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal scuffs only (very light and whispy) (NO) audio sounding surface marks\scuffs that I could hear! (no) visable needle scratches at least none audio sounding that I heard!!!! The audio is awesome through out)!!! It was cristal clear and vibrant through out! Please note! Please allow for the odd very very light static tick (not consistant throughout the audio) The audio is awesome cristal clear and vibrant even between tracks extreemely minimal noise!!!unbeleivable for 34 years! I would grade this audio as at least excellent plus! !!!! Please look at my other completed listings sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!
please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this vinyl through a few times not just once and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Although I never heard any problems myself and I would class myself as highly critical, Please allow for the odd static tick (not) consistant through out the audio! This is an original vinyl pressing not a reissue that is genuinely 34 years old would have been played on a system that is 34 years old!!!!!! Please look at my completed listings of albums that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!!!!!!!!!!!
The labels.
These are the original EMI labels very slightly darker in colour than later pressings that I have. Visually you will have to look very hard to find any spidering any spidering seen (only side 2.)can be counted, this has hardly been played at all (no) spindle ware. These are in exceptional condition!!!Unbeleivable for 34 years old!!!!
The Record Sleeve
This is the original lyric record sleeve Becoming fragile with age at the edges where a small split is begining to form at the bottom edge only, The vinyl and cover are both stored seperately from this sleeve! Nice and clean original!
The cover
This is the original fully laminated cover !!(only 1st uk covers feature text on both the spine and top edge and feature rounded spine later press have square spine)!!! SUPER GLOSSY APPERANCE! I can not over emphisise how difficult it is to find an original 1st press cover and even more difficult in this condition!!!!! The 1st thing to note is only the very 1st of these covers have writing on both the spine and at the top edge!. Very few original were pressed like this and soon changed!!!!!There are no splits or tares and hardly any storageware or scuffing to talk of in fact there are very few any creases to talk of the very very few that there are you can only see if you are looking for them (any marks you would have to look for)(see photo) (please note! the vinyl is now stored seperately from the cover and sleeve The spine is NEAR PERFECT the writing can be clearly seen a great and unique example Any ringware is only noticable if looked for only! STRONG AND DRAIGHT SQUARE CORNERS! try to find better AFTER 34 YEARS UNBELIEVABLE CONDITION!!AT LEAST EXCELLENT\EXCELLENT PLUS!!!!!
