SHEER HEART ATTACK (4U/4U) very early pressing

This very early pressing of Sheer Heart Attack is in excellent condition.  The vinyl plays to a very high standard and the laminated cover is also in excellent condition with minimal shelf wear.  No Trident logo on the reverse.

 Visual grading

This vinyl looks stunning under a bright light.  I cannot see any hairlines, visually it really is superb.  This record has obviously been very well looked after and I doubt if it has played very much as there is almost no spindle wear on the labels.

Play grading

The audio across all of Side One is of a very high quality.  There is barely any lead in static prior to 'Brighton Rock' and then proceeds to play with great depth and clarity and no interference.  'Flick of the Wrist' and 'Tenement Funster' both play with no static or clicks but there is perhaps just a little distortion.  'Lily of the Valley' plays perfectly with just a little crackle at the end.  'Now I'm Here' again plays with a little distortion and a little static towards the end.

Side Two plays with very clear audio and only a hint of static and I only heard one pop towards the end of 'In The Lap of the Gods'.  The sound on this side is so clear and belies its 42 years.  It plays with excellent resonance and almost no background noise until '...Lap of the Gods..revisited' where there is a little static and distortion, very common with this final track on the earl pressings.

Cover

The G & L laminated cover is in wonderful condition and the edges are especially clean.  It would be Near Mint except for a crease top left and a little wear on the bottom opening edge.  The laminate is commonly creased badly or lifted but not here and remains in great shape.  The opening edge has almost no handling wear.

This cover does not have the Trident logo on the back of the cover making it quite a rarity.

Lyric inner

The lyric inner is exceptionally clean but does have a split on the right hand side.  A shame really as the rest of it is near perfect.

Play tested on my Technics SL-J110R turntable system

 EMC 3061 // YAX 4881 - 4U / YAX 4882 - 4U // Mother Stampers PA 15 & HM 1

I would grade the vinyl as Ex+

The laminated cover is Near Mint-

The lyric inner is Ex (Near Mint but for a split to one side)

The original EMI

labels are Mint
