Sheer Heart Attack (Pathe Marconi - France) Gatefold Cover

This original French release is a rare item in that it has a gatefold cover with the lyrics printed on the inside.

The audio ranges from Ex to Ex+ and is Near Mint in some sections

 Visual grading

  This vinyl has some spindle wear but not an excessive amount.  S1 has a number of faint hairlines but only one very thin scratch type mark.  There are also a few very small scuff type marks on track but they have no bearing on the audio.  S2 is a lot cleaner with only a couple of fine hairlines and is in great condition for its age.

Play grading

'Brighton Rock' has some background static but there are no clicks, pops or distortion.  It still plays with great power and remains an excellent listen.  'Killer Queen' is a highlight and has very impressive audio with is very close to Near Mint quality.  'Tenement Funster' also plays with impressive audio with only a hint of static at the start and a little distortion on the top end but again there are no clicks etc.  'Flick Of The Wrist' is a stunning version here and plays with hardly any 'background'.  'Lily Of The Valley' has a little static but overall for a quiet track it has maintained its quality very well.  'Now I'm Here' ends the side with excellent audio but with a little static/distortion on the top end again.

'In The Lap Of The Gods' has some static here that is little more prevalent than on S1.  However, it isn't particularly intrusive and the song still plays clearly without any other interference.  From the half way point it improves and plays with great clarity.  'Stone Cold Crazy' is very impressive and apart from a little static at the end plays with Near Mint quality.  'Dear Friends' again has some intermittent static in the background and a couple of light clicks but the audio is still of a perfectly acceptable standard considering its age.  Both 'Misfire' and 'Bring Back That Leroy Brown' play with wonderful audio and only a minor amount of static on the latter.  'She Makes Me...' is a stunning version with barely any 'background' and plays with exceptional clarity and depth.  'In The Lap Of The Gods...revisited' ends the album with excellent audio although there is more static/distortion on the choral type ending.

Gatefold cover

This rare gatefold has some wear but nothing major in my opinion.  The edges and wide spine are in excellent condition with only a handful of small 'rubs' and one small tear on the bottom edge of the back cover.  The front cover is very clean with no marking.  The inside of the gatefold has all the lyrics on and is in excellent shape with only some light spotting.  The only area of wear on the back cover is a few small scuff marks that are right in the centre.  Finally, the opening edge has a few small rub marks on it but hardly any handling wear and remains very clean.

They are in excellent shape with no marking just some spindle wear.
