Visual grading
Under a bright light I can only detect a couple of faint hairlines. It retains a gleaming glossy shine as per new vinyl and I am certain it has hardly been played before. It has a stunning quality to it with only a couple of tiny spindle lines on each side. There is a very small faint mark at towards the end of 'Radio Ga Ga' but it has no affect on the sound quality whatsoever.
Play grading
Side One plays with fantastic high quality audio and it is obvious this record has been hardly played. 'Radio Ga Ga' has only a couple of very faint dust ticks at the beginning and then plays perfectly. 'Tear It Up' plays loudly as you would expect and with no interference. 'It's A Hard Life' has a few very light dust ticks at the start again but is in no way intrusive and plays with great clarity. 'Man On The Prowl' ends the side with no background noise, just a little distortion perhaps, this being very common with last tracks on a side where the grooves are often pressed closer together.
This version of 'Machines...' has to be one of the best I have heard in a long time. It has exceptional audio and no interference whatsoever. 'I Want To Break Free' has one faint click at the beginning but other than that plays perfectly. The remainder of the side plays with superb, strong audio and no clicks, pops, jumps etc. It is difficult to believe this album is nearly 33 years old and the audio certainly belies its age. 'Is This The World We Created..?' has only a handful of very quiet dust ticks at the beginning (most sellers would not mention this!) but quite honestly plays as near to Mint as you will find.
Cover
The shrinkwrap still completely surround the cover apart from around the opening edge obviously and has no splits. The edges and spine are in superb condition and have no shelf wear at all. I would go so far as to say this is the best 'Works' cover I have ever seen. There are no negatives! Simply the best!
Lyric inner
The lyric inner (with rounded corners) is in perfect condition with no faults at all.
Play tested on my Technics SL-J110R turntable system.
