Description
If I may start by setting the scene in the sixties, California is in a near state of civil un-rest. There are sit in protests by students in university's. San Francisco and Los Angeles has drawn poets, writers painters musicians and quite a few tag along weirdo's. You could receive a two year prison sentence if caught smoking a joint. And yet an arm of the federal government, aka, the CIA were paying people to take laboratory grade LSD. Then asking them of all things, and I quote " Write their recollection of paradise before the fall ". Groups were living in nudists colonies. And among this melting pot, the explosion of great music. San Francisco alone gave us , The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Company and of course Quicksilver Messenger Service.
Now back to my mundane life, this record came out as an Anthology in 1973, and spans the years 1967 to 1971. It's a double album, and in this case a factor test press. It comes in a gatefold sleeve, and is on original Capitol label.
