Description

FROM 1984 ON THE UK A&M RECORDS LABEL COMES THIS STUNNING AUDIOPHILE NIMBUS SUPERCUT REISSUE OF THE 1978 LP BY QUINCY JONES ENTITLED "SOUNDS AND STUFF LIKE THAT" (AMLH 64685)
STEREO. 1984 PRESSING.

Nimbus Supercut LPs were released as a mail order only promotion to Practical Hi-Fi and Hi-Fi today magazine readers during the early 1980s.

All Nimbus Supercut releases were available in limited quantities of around 1000 pressings per title, and as such, many are rarely seen for sale and are arguably rarer than releases from Mobile Fidelity, Nautilus, DCC, etc. Nimbus established the need for high quality vinyl pressings at a time when most mainstream vinyl which was haphazardly mastered and pressed on poor quality recycled vinyl.

In contrast, Nimbus Supercut releases were mastered from the original master tapes, through an all valve mastering process, using no limiting, to result in a high quality pressing which was as close as possible in sound to the original recording. Nimbus also had ICI produce an extremely pure vinyl for this release, which has exceptional frequency reproduction and is virtually noise free.    A1 Stuff Like That Saxophone [Alto] – George Young (2) Vocals – Ashford & Simpson, Chaka Khan Saxophone [Alto] – George Young (2) Vocals – Ashford & Simpson, Chaka Khan 6:15 A2 I'm Gonna Miss You In The Morning Lyricon – Tom Scott Vocals – Luther Vandross, Patti Austin Lyricon – Tom Scott Vocals – Luther Vandross, Patti Austin 3:34 A3 Love, I Never Had It So Good Bass [Fender] – Anthony Jackson Vocals – Charles May, Patti Austin Bass [Fender] – Anthony Jackson Vocals – Charles May, Patti Austin 5:14 B1 Tell Me A Bedtime Story Electric Piano – Herbie Hancock Flute – Hubert Laws Violin [Jazz Violins] – Harry Lookofsky Electric Piano – Herbie Hancock Flute – Hubert Laws Violin [Jazz Violins] – Harry Lookofsky 6:45 B2 Love Me By Name Guitar – Eric Gale Keyboards – Herbie Hancock Vocals – Patti Austin Guitar – Eric Gale Keyboards – Herbie Hancock Vocals – Patti Austin 4:08 B3 Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You) Electric Piano – Herbie Hancock Flute – Hubert Laws Lyricon – Tom Scott Vocals – Patti Austin Electric Piano – Herbie Hancock Flute – Hubert Laws Lyricon – Tom Scott Vocals – Patti Austin 5:25 B4 Takin' It To The Streets Guitar – Melvin "Wah Wah" Watson Saxophone [Tenor] – Michael Brecker Vocals – Gwen Guthrie, Luther Vandross Guitar – Melvin "Wah Wah" Watson Saxophone [Tenor] – Michael Brecker Vocals – Gwen Guthrie, Luther Vandross 4:24
