Up for sale is a museum-quality, true 1976 FIRST US PRESSING of Queen’s masterpiece, A Day At The Races (Elektra Records, 6E-101).
This specific record was manufactured at the Specialty Records Corporation (SP) plant using the earliest master plates cut directly from the tapes at Sterling Sound.
It is a definitive archive copy, perfect for collectors or audiophiles looking for an immaculate analog transfer source. Definitive First-Press Deadwax
Details:
Side A Matrix: 6E-101A - 6E - 101A followed by SP, SP, and the stamped STERLING logo. Features the famous, highly collectible scratched-out master number error just above the main matrix code.
NOTE: please see last photo for a close-up of the scratched out master number error.
Side B Matrix: 6E-101B with the stamped STERLING logo.
Condition Report:
Vinyl: Near Mint (NM). Pristine mirror-like factory gloss. This record has been played exactly twice and carefully handled. Absolutely no scuffs, hairline scratches, or spindle marks on the butterfly labels. Audio playback is flawless.
Jacket: Near Mint (NM). The original gatefold jacket is beautifully crisp. Vibrant colors, sharp corners, stiff spine, and completely free of ring wear, seam splits, writing, or corner dings.
Inner Sleeve: Includes the original 1976 photo inner sleeve in excellent condition (standard straight-cut corner variant issued by the SP plant).
Note: Please see the top right edge of photo number four for a slight blemish area on the inner sleeve, which is approximately 1/8 inch wide and 3/4 inch long.
Shipping & Handling:Stored upright in a climate-controlled, smoke-free room. The record will be removed from the jacket and inner sleeve prior to packing to prevent seam splits during transit. Shipped securely in a heavy-duty vinyl mailer.
