Description

14 LP box set issued in 1985 that I purchased new in 1990. I am assuming that those interested in this item are familiar with the contents so won't show track listings but will detail condition as follows. This is very picky to say the least and many others would simply say "mint as new" but it's only fair to be 100% accurate:

BOX: Excellent - no rips, tears or dodgy taped edges. Just very minor storage wear (slight odd nick but not enough to go through black surface) and slight 15mm crease on bottom edge of the lid that was there from new. Inside is nice and white with no stains or mildew spots. No scratches or marks on the gold exernal writing and always stored vertically

BOOKLETS: Excellent - kept in inner plastic bag from new. Itinerary and map only opened once from memory and pretty much unmarked; main booklet read several times with very minor finger mark creases but no edge/page creases, rips, tears or other wear

RECORDS (all within their original plain white plastic-lined inner sleeves)

1) QUEEN I: cover has 6-7 minor edge creases along the top front of cover (see photo) and 2 minor creases on back L/H corner. Not sure how these occurred because I am fanatical about not creasing record covers but maybe just during general movement of the box over time. Otherwise unmarked and absolutely no tears, splits or ring wear whatsoever. Record has been removed from plain inner sleeve at some point but never played

2) QUEEN II: cover has 3 minor creases on top front edge of cover (again, see photo). Record has been removed from plain inner sleeve at some point but never played

3) SHEER HEART ATTACK: cover has 4 minor top front edge creases. Record played maybe 3-4 times but no marks or scratches.

4) NIGHT AT THE OPERA: cover has 1 minor crease on front top edge, 2 minor creases on rear R/H edge. Record played 7-8 times but no marks or scratches

5) DAY AT THE RACES; cover has just 1 minor crease on top front edge plus a small 2mm feint red mark beneath the laminating (presumably from manufacture) and 1 minor crease on top R/H edge. Record played a couple of times but no marks or scratches

6) NEWS OF THE WORLD: cover has just 1 minor top edge crease. Record played probably 10 times but no marks or scratches other than a slight 5mm manufacturing directional mark on the run-in groove on side 2

7) JAZZ: cover has 3 minor top front edge creases, 1 lower L/H minor front edge crease, 1 bottom R/H minor front edge crease, 3 larger but still feint bottom R/H edge creases on rear that looks as if corner has been bent slightly at some point. Record played 8-10 times and side 2 has very feint hairline mark through first 2 tracks but you really have to hold it to the light to see this. Has no effect on sound and no others marks or scratches.

8) LIVE KILLERS (disc one): no marks or creases on cover. Record removed from inner sleeve at some point but never played

9) LIVE KILLERS (disc two): cover has no creases on front side but 4-5 minor creases each on upper and lower rear edge. Record removed from inner sleeve at some point but never played

10) THE GAME: cover has 3-4 minor creases on top front/rear edges plus minor crease on lower rear edge. Record played 8-10 times but no marks or scratches

11) FLASH GORDON: cover has 1 minor crease on rear upper and lower edge. Record has had title track played a couple of times but that's it and no marks or scratches

12) HOT SPACE: cover has 1 minor crease on front top edge, 1 minor crease on front lower R/H edge, 3 minor creases on upper rear edge and a larger crease on lower R/H rear edge (as if bent slightly at some point). Record possibly played once or twice but no marks or scratches

13) THE WORKS: cover has 2 minor creases on lower L/H front edge and 3 minor creases on R/H rear lower edge/side as if it has has a slight bend at some point. I played this record more than any of the others, maybe 15-20 times at a guess but no marks or scratches

14) The "extra" LP with 7 non-album tracks: cover has 1 minor edge crease on top rear edge and 2 minor edge creases on lower rear edge (blink and you'll miss them). Record played quite a few times but only for "One Vision" on side B and side A never played with no marks or scratches. Sadly not one of the random signed copies that appeared in a few of the boxes!

Any of the records that have been played have not been near a turntable for at least 14 years. Visually there is pretty much nothing to show they have been played at all. I had a decent Marantz deck with quality stylus at the time and records were only ever placed directly on the spindle to avoid those annoying marks that can accumulate on the label around the spindle hole. Yes, I was that obsessive.

It's taken me 3 hours to check the records and write this so, hopefully, bidders can see it is a genuine sale.

For UK postage there is choice of 1st class recorded or "Parcelforce 48" but full value insurance is only given with the Parcelforce option due to weight. No recompense will be offered for loss/damage above the standard £36 limit if 1st class recorded option is specified. I will separate records and sleeves and the whole lot will be carefully bubble wrapped with polystyrene inside a larger box. Overseas bidders welcome, please contact me for shipping rates.

I will tentatively allow collections if preferred (after cleared payment received) in view of weight and potential for damage during postage but it will not be an opportunity to analyse at length against the above descriptions or to quibble the sale price!

Any queries gladly answered. No reserve set...
