Radiohead : Pablo Honey A1 / B1 Original Pressing 1993

This original pressing from '93 plays to the highest standard possible and in my opinion may well never have been played before such is the sonic quality on offer here.  Put simply there is no interference on either side - there are no static ticks, clicks, pops or static and the clarity is just STUNNING!  I cannot overstate how well it plays and on my play grading below I have graded every track as Mint there is not even a solitary Mint- one in there!  The vinyl is pristine condition and 'as new' sums it up perfectly.  This is now 30 years old and easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE time-warp classic.

The cover has also been preserved beautifully and can you believe has no wear at all.  The picture inner is just as impressive - this is a stunning Mint package in every way!

Of course I should say this is not a genuine first pressing which was released in Feb '93.  This version was released very soon after in Sept '93 but if you want an original pressing with perfect Mint audio then this is certainly the one to own!

Visual description

The vinyl is visually stunning and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  I have looked at the record under a bright light and I can only make out a couple of ultra faint hairlines so it has clearly hardly ever been removed from the sleeve.  The labels are perfect with no marking and no spindle wear either.

Play grading

The intro on 'You' is so clean, there is not even a dust tick, and as the volume increases the audio is just as impressive.  Yorke's opening vocal is perfect and it continues to play with stunning clarity, power and definition through every vocal and instrumental section.  The depth of the audio in particular is a real stand out and this is a Mint start to this album, it just could not play any better.

The familiar intro on the classic 'Creep' plays beautifully with zero intrusion and the first vocal and chorus are of the same high end standard.  No dust ticks, static ticks, clicks, pops or static and it proceeds to play with a sonic quality that is second to none and there is no distortion either.  It is as clean and 'fresh' as when first pressed 30 years ago with literally nothing getting in the way of the audio and the quiet end vocal is a case in point - STUNNING clarity with no dust ticks and the fade out can also be described 'as new'.  A Mint version in every way.

'How Do You?' plays with outstanding power and depth throughout with no interference.  The 'heavy' instrumental towards the end is so strong and... no distortion.  Mint

'Stop Whispering' again shows just how well this vinyl has been cared for and as stated perhaps has never been played before.  Running at over 5 minutes the clarity of sound cannot be faulted.  The quieter sections play with impeccable precision and the 'louder' passages are just so strong and deep.  Yorke's vocal exhibits a great range here and the powerful crescendo end section is phenomenal!  Another MINT track!

The acoustic intro on 'Thinking About You' has no background perfect and Yorke's opening vocal is 'as new' also.  It continues in the same way - no need to elaborate - the sonic quality is incredible and Mint is again deserved.

The entire intro on 'Anyone Can Play Guitar' is STUNNING - great bass from Greenwood here and this warmth and depth continues into the first vocal and the following chorus.  From then on it plays with sensational quality and again each note is so clean and 'pure'.  Despite being the final track on the side there is no decrease in sonic quality, no distortion and every section is 'crystal clear' including the fade out.  Mint and the most perfect side that you could wish for :-)

'Ripcord' is 'as new' from start to finish with no background of any kind.  I have no desire in being repetitive but what you can you do when each track plays to perfection?!  A Mint introduction to S2.

The intro on 'Vegetable' plays with sublime clarity and the opening vocal is equal to that.  From then on it plays with great power and definition and 'as new' is again fair.  Mint

The quiet intro / vocal on 'Prove Yourself' has not even a single dust tick and first chorus is just as strong.  Every section plays with stunning precision and you have just have to sit back and admire the sonic quality on offer here.  Mint

'I Can't' plays with exceptional quality from the get go and the standard does not drop as it progresses.  This is a 'busy' track and yet each and every note is so 'clean' and and even brief quiet passage plays beautifully with no intrusion.  The high octane finish is so strong and as always Mint is deserved!

The clarity and depth of sound on the 'Lurgee' intro is immaculate and it continues to play with no interference. Just pure unadulterated Mint audio from the first note to the last.  Every vocal is 'as new' and the instrumental end section is faultless.

'Blow Out' ends this unbelievable album with... unbelievable audio!  The intro and first vocal have no background and the first 'heavy' section is just stunning for a final track.  The remainder keeps up the standard and the end sequence in particular is incredible, you will never heard better!  There is no distortion on the top end and yes... Mint is the only grade I can give.  Wow!!

In summary this original 1993 pressing quite simply plays 'as new' with no background of any kind.  The signs were there from the very first track!  It's not often I grade every track as MINT without even a single minus but this vinyl 100% deserves it.  On recollection the dead wax between each track is silent or as close to it as possible and - not a selling technique - but my theory of this having not been played before may well be true.  I mean there is a lot of evidence to back that up!  The sonic quality is 'as new' and this is obviously a FINAL UPGRADE archive classic in every sense and that includes the cover and inner sleeve also.  There cannot be many around today that play as well as this - it was of course pressed on relatively 'thin' vinyl so for it to still play with such distinction is a rare in my opinion.  STUNNING!

The Cover & Picture Inner

The glossy cover is in beautiful condition with no wear and that is no exaggeration.  I do not 'over-grade' my items as it is obviously not in my interests to do so (or yours!) and having inspected it very closely I can confidently say every aspect remains in perfect Mint condition with no sign of any wear.  The edges, spine and corners are pristine and the front and back cover are as clean as the day when first produced!  It has been preserved like this for 30 years now and there cannot be many around today like this plus it has also retained its original shape and structure.  This is one STUNNING example.

You will not be surprised to hear that the glossy picture inner is also in perfect condition.
