THE RAINDROPS
(same)
JUBILEE JGM 5023 (US mono LP)
Sometimes mono’s the only way to go. It’s a must, in the case of this album! The “stereo” version suffers from some of the most painful separation and unpleasant added reverb this side of an early Reprise Kinks LP!
Alas, these horrid “stereo” mixes have also been used for the CD reissues of this wonderful, sprightly pop material. Thus, the crisp, clean sound of the original mono mixes is the best way to experience the charming magic of The Raindrops. Includes some songs Greenwich and Barry co-wrote with the legendary Phil Spector!
Hear "Even Though You Can't Dance," chosen because it depicts the roughest section of the album, condition-wise (visually, that is--the vinyl still sounds pretty good):
Condition:
JACKET: Front panel has some light ringwear but is clean and colorful. Top edge seam is really nice. Bottom edge seam has a couple of scuffs and chips, but is intact. Spine nice, with all text fully readable. Back panel has some light rubwear and discoloration at top and bottom. All text is crisp and legible. Overall, this sleeve is a strong EX-.
VINYL: Bright, bouncy sound delivers in spades on this sweet copy! Some light surface scuffs don’t equal audio problems, as the sound sample will attest. This is a solid EX disc.
This is just one of a special collection of the rarest, most desirable PHIL SPECTOR and GIRL GROUP LPs you’ll ever see on eBay—all from the legendary collection of DAVID A. YOUNG! Grab ‘em before they’re gone—you won’t see their likes again!
