The Rajahs were originally Dig Richard’s R.J’s and changed their name just in time to catch the rising tide of Beatlemania sweeping this country in 1964. Their first EP was a newspaper promotional give- away and is still common enough today. But this second EP – which is considerably superior, if only because it contains two original trax by the band (one written for them by Lonnie Lee),was quickly deleted and is incredibly rare. Rockin’ Ronnie Smith (from Global Dog) believes it to be “one of the most elusive of all Aussie beat group artifacts” and on a comparable scale with items like the Betty McQuade EP on Go, the Atlantics EP on Sunshine and the Flies EP on RCA. (ie bloody rare and good) The EP was never released in N.Z.
The condition of the (a) side is EX- with a few very light marks. The (b) side is EX and the label is EX+. The cover has a split seam at the centre bottom of about three quarters of an inch and of about half an inch at the lower mouth – the rest is in pretty good shape so EX-.
CONDITION WISE:
MINT: Brand new condition, no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover, label, extras in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT: Slight signs of having been played, no lessening of sound quality. Cover, label, extras are good.
VERY GOOD: played quite a few times, no real deterioration in sound quality. Cover, label, extras slight amount of wear and tear.
GOOD: showing some wear and tear. Reasonable, playable sound. No major defects in record, cover, label, extras.
FAIR: Sound quality deteriorated. Cover, label, extras display folding, scuffing, marks. .
