Description

A compilation of the more accessible music of the artists recording for Arista Freedom, a forward-looking jazz subsidiary of Arista Records, #AFS-01, released in 1975.  Featuring the work of Roswell Rudd (Maiden Voyage); Randy Weston (Carnival); Charles Tolliver (Paper Man); Gato Barbieri (81st Street); Cecil Taylor (After All No. 2); Ornette Coleman (Doughnuts); Marion Brown (Porto Nova); Albert Ayler (Ghosts); Anthony Braxton (a track from the album New York City, Fall 1974) w/ Kenny Wheeler, Dave Holland + Jerome Cooper.  Cover is in good condition with light ring wear.  There is some chafing/splitting starting to develop along the top seam at the top right-hand corner.  Also, there is a "Promotional Copy - Not For Sale" sticker on reverse side of jacket.  The labels are also marked "Not For Sale".  Vinyl is in mint condition.  A rare collection of tunes by avant garde composers - but these tracks selected as being more palatable to potential jazz audiences.
