Items in this lot are:
  • Self-titled -- Label: RCA Victor -- Record#: LPM-1254

Special note to foreign bidders: I declare foreign shipments as merchandise with the value you bid for them. Shipment to foreign buyers is via priority mail international with insurance for the value bid. Please e-mail for shipping costs before bidding as this method costs more, but is insurable and trackable. Example: United Kingdom 1-2 pounds $47.45 + $2.10 box/tape/pack = $49.55.

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.

Alternatively, if the ending winning bid is less than $50 and if you have perfect feedback and want this shipped first class international, it could be shipped that method with the understanding there is NO REFUND FOR ANY REASON since the item cannot be tracked online or insured. Example: United Kingdom 1 pound 13 oz.: $24.15 + $2.10 = $26.25.

Feedback/bidding policy: I check feedback daily and will return feedback promptly. Although I go to great lengths to accurately describe my items, if you feel the merchandise is not as described, e-mail me BEFORE leaving feedback and we will resolve it. Please note I do allow returns (see return policy below).

Description:Up for your consideration is the next in a series of unique Lps, this one by Elvis Presley. This is his first LP on RCA. It is mono. Using the Goldmine price guide, it shows a near mint value of $400, a VG+(excellent) value of $200. This is version 2 which has "Elvis" in pink on the front cover (see scan), "Presley" in green print and a green RCA Victor front upper right corner. It shows "long play" on the label (see scan).

Several unique things about this item: Firstly, the record retains the original shine with a few very light to light marks, grading by sight in normal room light. I'm sure if you took this and put it under a 1000 watt bulb, you'd probably find something that makes it less than mint. If you're that kind of collector, and after a recent unpleasant experience with a buyer from Malaysia, let me suggest this auction is not for you.

I don't claim this record is mint (none are!) I took the time to play the entire record and found the tracks to audibly average just below Near Mint. Rarely do records play this well. You can assign your own grade based on my comments and the scale shown below. Keep in mind how a record plays for me and sound on my equipment may vary from how it sounds for you and plays on your equipment. Frankly, it was very difficult for me to hear anything wrong with these tracks, I can't image how anyone would not be more than thrilled as to how it plays.

So this is your chance to own a unique item at a reasonable price. Bid early and often so you don't miss out on this auction!

It is further described below, please take the time to read before bidding.

Please e-mail if questions.

I am using the Goldmine scale of G=Good(1), VG = Very Good(2), VG+ = Very Good Plus(excellent)(3), NM = Near Mint(4) when grading the disc(s).

Here is a summary of the record(s):

Artist: Elvis Presley Title: Self-titled Record: Black vinyl with original shine, a few very light to light marks, grading by sight in normal room light. Labels: Black with silver print. No stickers, no pen/pencil marks, a few spindle marks. Trailing wax: Side 1: "G2 PP1282-6S 1 A4". Side 2: "G2 PP1283-5S 1 A6". Inner sleeves: Comes with a generic, white sleeve in fine shape, a fold on one corner. Cover: Slight general/ring wear. Corners slightly worn with a few creased tips. There is a small sticker front upper right corner with writing on it. This is a "True Value" sticker, apparently sold at that store when it first came out in 1956. It could be removed, but I'm leaving that to the new owner. No pen/pencil marks. A small 1" seam split upper outer corner. Rate the cover VG to VG+(excellent). Comments: This record played as close to Near Mint as any record I've graded. You can assign your own grade based on my comments and the scale shown below. An OUTSTANDING addition to your LP collection. Side 1: Comments: Blue suede shoes Near Mint, I couldn't hear anything wrong (4.0) I'm counting on you Up to a very, very light surface noise (3.8) I got a woman Near Mint, I couldn't hear anything wrong (4.0) One-sided love affair Near Mint, I couldn't hear anything wrong (4.0) I love you because Up to a very, very light surface noise (3.8) Just because Near Mint, I couldn't hear anything wrong (4.0) Side 2: Comments: Tutti Frutti Near Mint, I couldn't hear anything wrong (4.0) Tryin' to get to you Near Mint, I couldn't hear anything wrong (4.0) I'm gonna sit right down and cry Near Mint, I couldn't hear anything wrong (4.0) I'll never let you go Up to a very, very light surface noise, barely detectable (3.95) Blue moon Up to a very, very light surface noise, barely detectable (3.95) Money honey Near Mint, I couldn't hear anything wrong (4.0)

Additional criteria I use when audibly grading records for people:

  • NM(4) = absolutely nothing wrong at all (very rarely happens--I've even opened sealed records and they don't play Near Mint)
  • 3.5-3.9 = very, very light surface noise
  • 3.1-3.4 = very light surface noise, very light pops
  • VG+(3) = up to light pops and light surface noise (below this, one's enjoyment is affected, very subjective)
  • VG(2) = up to medium pops and moderate surface noise
  • G(1) = up to heavy pops and heavy surface noise

I normally ship valuable Lp's in a 14 x 14 x 6" box. Weight with box is about 1 pound 11 oz. Shipping is $3.17 Media Rate (1-2 pounds) + $2.10 box/tape/packing + $1.05 delivery confirmation = $6.32.

>Buyer pays shipping/handling. Standard method within U.S. is Media Rate, $4.00 This includes delivery confirmation which enables you to track shipping of your package online. Outside U.S., e-mail location to determine S/H costs prior to auction end. Insurance / other methods of shipping cost extra. Payment received within ten days of auction ending. Payment via Paypal preferred.
