RARE as a collection worthy Original 1957 first British pressing on the original rainbow Capitol designed label. The USA pressing in the same is an lightly aqua color - no bones about it either way when talking the second ever Gene Vincent album, from a whopping 62 years past and delivering in bold & deep MONOPHONIC sound waves. The MONO mixes are strikingly clean! Overall an awesome legend of rockabilly, a precursor to USA '60s garage rock, the Gene Vincent album entertains throughout as a edgy infectious howler !
Crackin' stuff in glorious MONO...a fantastic growling raunchy rockabilly kicker by the legendary Gene Vincent [in his prime]...this is a really sparse stripped-down guitar ago-go howler that was a great inspiration and forerunner to many musicians and rocker bands that were to come down the pike.
The "fan man" adds:
" So, be aware in that here we have one hell of an early raw rocker...like straight from the garage...a strangely hypnotic experience. The guitars are reverbed and twanged way out and all over the place and Gene's voice planted firmly in your ears, is a very harsh voice with wailing pure energy. The energy he infused into tracks such as 'You Better Believe' lift the songs to greatness. "Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps" is as high energy ballsy rockabilly as you could imagine. Gene's voice is at least equal to Presley and his delivery and range are superior. The songs are strong and Cliff Gallup's trashy stinging guitar work will absolutely pull you into the 'experience' of this album, and time after time you'll hear fresh and gutsy stuff to this day, even if almost a half-century old.
This record is always mentioned by Jeff Beck as an important influence to him.
More relevant if you think that practically, guitar virtuosos did not exist at that time. "

CONDITION: The cover: rated: is near M- tremendously clean for a 1957 release playing with excellent audio. The U.K. cover is THICK heavy cardboard stock with fabulous color tones ~ hard to tell apart from the USA cover with exception of the old UK flap-seems on back cover. Incidentally the back cover which is white, with group photos, is in stunning clean condition. Extremely well cared for, the artifact represents a final collection copy, the front cover graphics are unmatched! Solid all over ~~ there are no bends, no delete marks, no cuts, scrapes or other issues not in this description
The vinyl: Remarkable CLEAN condition as it plays in excellent audio zones, completely shiny, over both sides we'll rate it strong VG++ having only some little light / soft hair scuffs, play grade was highly enjoyable "excellent audio" with no problems - great stuff with no groove wear (rare for this album) .... clean mono rainbow Capitol labels too..... A cool addition to anyone's music library!
