Description

Here is the original 1964 metal record recording stamper for Ray Whitley " Walking Back To You " #64-3784  1964. Blue eyed Soul. NOTE: This is not the Country singer of the same name . He wrote many of the songs for The Tams. See more info below. This item came from the Memphis Music & Blues Museum , now defunct. (I think that was the name of it). The plain envelope still has its original Archive sticker on it (see photo). Made of metal and measuring about 10 inches across. You can still see the grooves from the play area about half way in followed by the trail off area. The trail off area of the stamper has:" (some number) and then "3784) (backwards) followed by a (name?) and the number 84. Right below that is a circled set of letters (RM?). Farther along is a small triangle followed by 25024? (backward). That is then followed by a circled (L) which is followed by more numbers and a couple of letters (backward and a bit hard to make out). I tried to take photos of as much of this as this as I could. The underside is flaking with heat markings. The metal top surface is a bit tarnished and spotting with some shading. I don't know if you could actually press another record using this or not with the right equipment but probably not. I also don't know if you can play this for the music. The center hole is smaller than that of a 33 record and smaller than the spindle on a record player so I couldn't even attempt to play it. (You can get the music on a regular record). Nice piece of memorabilia in any case.   Buyer pays Priority shipping to be determined by your ZIP. Or I will mail it by Media Mail if you wish. Foreign to be determined..
