Description

This NO RESERVE AUCTION features a RARE 1965 Country Joe & the Fish / Peter Krug COMPLETE FIRST ORIGINAL EP PACKAGE in its Original Envelope with the Original Tear Sheets.  This, October 1965, original pressing of Rag Baby Talking Issue No. 1 - "Volume 1, Issue A, was the first recording of "I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-to-Die Rag” and is ONE OF ONLY 100 PRESSINGS EVER MADE.   A complete original, exactly like this one, resides in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. This RARE package sells for $2,500 on Country Joe McDonald’s website (scroll to bottom):  http://www.countryjoe.com/store.htm#BCD16070

This ALL ORIGINAL PACKAGE includes the following, a 7 1/2" x 10 1/2" EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND manila envelope.  The envelope has been carefully taken apart on one end and part of one side is torn about half way down (no missing paper – hard to tell when flat), the other end is completely sealed) featuring a picture of demonstrators in Berkeley stopping a train filled with troops heading to Vietnam.  The RAREST parts of this package are the original Tear Sheets from Rag Baby Magazine that were included in the package when it was done.  There are no rips, tears or writing to the original sheets, just one fold – just the way it came.  The original 7-inch 33 1/3 LP is in its original sleeve and according to friend of mine who manages a record store and buys a lot of records, “the record has never been played and looks like new and has no faults”. Everything in this auction is authentic and all-original, including the original 50¢ price mark.

Side 1: "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag" and "Superbird" by Country Joe and The Fish (in its very first incarnation): Carl Shrager, Joe McDonald, Barry Melton, Bill Steele, and Mike Beardslee.
Side 2: "Fire in the City" and "Johnny's Gone in the War" by Peter Krug, solo.
