NOTE: eBay has implemented its new FEEDBACK policy to which ANY customer for ANY reason or ANY excuse can give sellers (i.e. "us") negative feedback. Please understand, we have served thousands of "satisfied" customers and processed thousands of orders - far more than our feedback records indicate - It is our intention to give EACH and EVERY buyer our best possible service and we are known to ALWAYS deliver your purchased item. ALL items paid for are processsed 'outbound'  to each and EVERY customer, satisfaction guaranteed.  Keep in mind we have serviced THOUSANDS of satisfied customers and our aim is to continue to do so.

We make every effort to mail all orders out Friday of each week.  Keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two at most.   We also strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.

TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS:  We often get requests to hold orders to save on shipping.  We are happy to do that.  Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and IF YOU REQUEST we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.   To receive continual shipping discounts, we will hold your orders as long as you want, but it is necessary to pay each invoice you receive to stay current.   Most importantly, we appreciate your business.

ULTRA RARE 1965 JUSTICE RECORDS GARAGE ORIGINAL

FIRST RELEASE ON THE LEGENDARY LABEL

                        Variety Time

Bill Artz and His Rhythm Kings

           ...USA - JUSTICE RECORDS - 1001 - MONO

SUPER RARE 1965 ORIGINAL first pressing on the legendary JUSTICE RECORDS label from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, home label to many top sought after teen garage rock albums from the mid 60's ...

HERE, the rarest on the label...the VERY FIRST "JUSTICE RECORDS" release! Pure garage jams ...

The cover gracing Bill Artz and His Rhythm Kings made it clear these guys weren't exactly a cutting edge rock and roll band.  Dressed in their matching white suits and white shoes, this grim lookin' quintet recalled a road gang facing imminent execution for crimes.

There were similar garage bands in the sixties and these guys had the good fortune to be the first band to release an album on Calvin Newton's famous Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Justice label.

Since there doesn't seem to be anything known about this band, the liner notes are as follows:  "A record unique in its very existence; an arrangement to fit each generation, from popular rock 'n roll by a small group with a big sound.  The band is composed of the electric piano, reeds, drums and two guitar men who have worked together three years to consummate the special sound effect.  You will hear "Organo Rock" and "Whatcha Call It" both written by Bill and arranged by the band.  In addition there are ten other selections.  All are combined with three special sounds - keys, the organo and the guitars.  There is the gold sound of the tenor sax as played by High (Tiny) Bost.  Clyde Ross, vocalizes and also plays rhythm guitar.  On the lead guitar is Jimmy Strickland.  Mike Axsom plays the drums and Bill Artz, leader of the Rhythm Kings, coordinates the three keyboard sounds.  The big sound is made by the men working in close association with no instrument stopping or breaking at any time during a performance. An individual style was the main goal of the group's three years of work.  Harmony of instruments is congruous with harmony among the players, whose association is not just as one of business in the music field, but one of brothers in the cause - to prove themselves the small group with a big sound !"

>> One of two Artz originals, 'Organo Rock' is a rocker. Jimmy Strickland turns in a surprisingly good guitar solo.  The ending is a little rough, but so what.
>> 'There Goes My Everything' is essentially a garage ballad.   >> One of three vocals by rhythm guitarist Clyde Ross, if you heard 'Searching' anywhere else it probably wouldn't have made much of an impression.  That said, surrounded by the rest of this album, the track came off as a pretty good slice of garage rock.  Yeah, it is quite amateurish and Ross isn't a great singer but it's a cool garage rock tune. >> 'Tuff' is a typical dreamy instrumental sound of the sixties. >> 'Square Dance Time' featuring Artz's hyperactive keyboard is worth hearing.  >> Side two opens up with a Artz original 'Whatcha Call It'.  Like his first composition, it is a rocker. Decent, but hardly something you'll be humming during the week.   >> 'Sleep Walk'.  Another dreamy sound of the sixties, zzzzzzzzzzz.   >> Listed as 'Almost Persuaded', this one sure sounded like a cover of The Coasters'  'Searchin' and has a pretty cool primitive garage sound. >> 'Never On a Sunday' offers up another sound of the sixties popular melody some may remember. >> 'Blue Tango' is another cut showcasing Artz's hyperactive keyboards.   >> Curiously while the track listing showed the closing tune as being 'Anniversary Waltz', it isn't actually on the album! Typical mid sixties crude garage edit move...
Top interest for garage and /or Justice label fans ...but they already know that.

(side 1)
1.) Organo Rock
2.) There Goes My Everything 3.) Searching 4.) Tuff
5.) Square Dance Time
(side 2)
1.) Whatcha Call It
2.) Sleep Walk 3.) Almost Persuaded
4.) Never On a Sunday
5.) Blue Tango 6.) Anniversary Waltz   CONDITION: The cover is solid on seams, flat and square...the front is VG++ upper levels for this dark cover that would normally have a lot of shelf wear IF found, but the IF is next to impossible in terms of rarity, so this one is pure luck to find pretty clean. The back cover has a little aging in dead areas around the edges, and even so at VG+ is very acceptable given the rarity ...no split seams, no bends, no writing....

The vinyl still retains its glossy/shiny luster, having no more than some light hairline scuffs, not deep, VG+ and thus the playback is surprisingly clean for a 45 year old primitive JUSTICE Records pressing, and release number one on the label. The gold Justice labels are both clean.

RARE ONE from 1965 ...first time we ever had or saw a copy....

                keeper copy!

A GREAT ADDITION  TO ANYONE'S COLLECTIBLES!
