PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! The You Know Who Group paradox is that when their record was played on the radio, deejays kept reminding us that we knew who. And though we didn't know who, even they didn't know who.
"Roses Are Red..." charted at #43 on Billboard Hot 100 in December 1965....
In the mid sixties, many teen-scene groups were trying desperately to ride the wave of the British invasion. Four Italian guys from Brooklyn came up with an idea. What if they wore masks while performing, tried to sound as British as they could and called themselves the "You Know Who" Group? Many people thought they were a famous British group and everyone involved tried hard to keep their identify a secret. It wasn't until some 50 years later that one of the group members told the story of how they came to be. "Roses Are Red..." was their only Hot 100 entry 45rpm, but it did fairly well, even charting in the Top 10 locally in some areas! Since the Beatles were famous for their "yeahs", this group made sure to include a fair amount in their recordings.
On the front cover left to right is: John Piemonte, who played bass guitar. Second is Vinny Pollimini as lead guitarist. Third is Robert “Bobby” Esposito, drummer and singer. Last is rhythm guitarist Frank d'Avino.
They may have had the British rave-up Invasion down, but were really just four teen-scene garage rockers from Brooklyn.
As for the costumes we're wearing on the cover, guitarist Frank d'Avino's mother, an experienced seamstress, made the capes and masks for the group who wore them during their shows.
