In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied.   RARE 1966 ORIGINAL ~ BEAT-PUNK TEEN SCENE GROOVER!

                                             LES BAROQUES

\                                         DUTCH - WHAMM -  10 001

RARE, authentic *cool in-crowd* artifact from the happening 1966 Dutch teen scene ... Original first pressing in very thin colorful cover that opens up like a gatefold but it's not a gatefold, just the rather primitive production style of the era....

So here...the super rare 1966 Dutch R'n'B garage album that sounds like classic '60's US garage punk with really great fuzz guitar and keyboard work. Driving powerful songs with a very cool attitude. There are particularly groovy instrumentations and addition there are some r'n'b tunes with the moody psychedelic flavour.

Top pick hits are up and down both sides, highlighted by the legendary 45's "Such A Cad" &  "I Was Wrong" two of greatest Dutch sixties grooves on one of the best Dutch albums that ever issued in 60's !

The Baroques were based in Holland and were part of a fertile Netherlands beat scene though their sound was occasionally strange and unconventional for a bluesy garage beat group. Some of their songs were dressed up with harpsichords, bassoons and arrangements though it was original lead singer Gary O’Shannon’s tortured vocals and unique personality that set the group apart from the competition.

O’Shannon reminds of an early Van Morrison on speed whose vocals are carelessly sloppy but somehow compelling and original. Their first single, Silky, was released back in 1965 and was a good, dreamy European folk-rock number that was unusual but still deserved a better fate. The bizarre top 40 followup, Such A Cad, is even better and is a strange punky original with bassoon fills and a great O’Shannon vocal performance. Such A Cad’s flip, the western sounding Summerbeach, was just as good and highlighted by fine harmonica playing and an otherworldly atmosphere. Their third single, I Know, was another Dutch hit and while still a respectable effort, it was somewhat of a letdown when compared with the previous two 45?s. But I Know’s flip, the punk rock ballad She’s Mine, was one of their great songs and had O’Shannon in top form, giving a stunning vocal performance with attitude and passion. The group fired back with another strong garage punk single (I’ll Send You To The Moon) that had lots of strange tempo shifts and the above debut album in 1966. After the completion of the lp, O’Shannon would leave the group for military service. This effectively ended Les Baroques classic period though the lp is strong and full of great, forgotten rockers like the mysterious I Was Wrong and the Animals influenced classic, O-O, Baby, Give Me That Show. Special mention should go to I Was Wrong as it’s a killer psych punk track with great raga influenced guitar work and angry, neurotic vocals. There are also two good tracks that have nice organ playing and really show off the band’s chops -- standing out as highlights. Another great track is Troubles, a good sublime rocker that features some of O’Shannon’s best tortured vocals over a dreamy backdrop.

CONDITION: The Cover: very fragile and dlicate to the point where find a copy without even light handling creases is near impossible, no exception here, but only very light handling visible, but with a light thin ink name at top right = look close at photo and see it's only light.   ...otherwise bright original colors, looking nice. Clean back cover ...VG+(+)

The Vinyl: the vinyl has lost its original gloss after 46 years, a sign of aged vinyl, otherwise very few hairlines, anything that is there is soft, audio playback has some light surface here and there but still, considering, plays enjoyable ... one side of label has light ink name, other side is clean with light spindle marks...downgraded from VG++ only as aged vinyl, will rate as  VG(+) and plays quite well....

A cool addition to anyone's music library!
