BOYS/KANSAS CITY (by PETE BEST, Cameo 391 PROMO 1st pressing, 1966): M- GEM with correct Cameo sleeve.
Clean M- PROMO gem with correct Cameo/Parkway company sleeve (sleeve is clean VG+).
Poor Peter Best; he watched as the band for whom he was a critically important drummer (and whose mom helped get the band started as professionals) went on to undreamt-of success after he was sacked in August 1962. Brian Epstein promised Pete he would build a band around him, but after 5 years of struggle to achieve even a modest musical career, Pete gave up. He took a job at a bakery; it wasn't until decades later that he got a small amount of fame appearing at Beatles conventions as "The Beatle That Time Forgot".
Here's a scarce relic of Pete Best's 1966 attempt to score with a Shirelles song he sang as a Beatle in those early days. To add insult to injury, The Fabs had Ringo sing Boys after Pete was fired; it became a signature tune for the new drummer.
Hard to find in any condition; especially valuable as a clean M- PROMO...
