Quite RARE Original 1967 BRITISH vinyl ((original)) hard to find first issue of the legendary 3-D SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST ... 100 times harded to find and way superior to the 1967 USA 3-D issue. Terrific laminated gatefold cover and containing the vibrant colours psychedelic inner sleeve ***The Stones Psychedelic answer to Sgt Pepper*** Without a doubt, no Rolling Stones album -- and, indeed, very few rock albums from any era -- split critical opinion as much as the Rolling Stones' psychedelic outing. Many confess of a fascination with the album's inventive arrangements, which incorporated some African rhythms, Mellotrons, trippy sound effects and full arrangements. Never before or since did the Stones take so many chances in the studio. The material is very strong, particularly the glorious "She's a Rainbow," with its beautiful harmonies, piano, and strings; the riff-driven "Citadel"; the hazy, dream-like "In Another Land," Bill Wyman's debut writing (and singing) credit on a Stones release; and the majestically dark and doomy cosmic rocker "2000 Light Years From Home," with some of the creepiest synthesizer effects (devised by Brian Jones) ever to grace a rock record. The psychedelic jam "Sing This All Together (See What Happens)." is an infectious sing-along with a host of friends (ala The Beatles and others)... It's a much better record than some people give it credit for being, though, with a strong current of creeping uneasiness that undercuts the gaudy psychedelic flourishes. In 1968, the Stones would go back to the basics, and never wander down these paths again, making this all the more of a fascinating anomaly in the group's discography.1. Sing This All Together 2. CONDITION: The laminated gatefold cover with 3-D center is in EXCELLENT ("EX") condition,
no problems, very light previous use visible ... looks like a lifetime keeper to us!
The vinyl is covered in light scuffs/marks, but as not deep, plays terrific, mostly EXcellent to M-
at worse a little light passive surface crackle in quiet places, but, really, highly enjoyable
throughout! visual then VG, playgrade is mostly EX/M- with sporadic light surface crackle in
spots only! (yes, we play graded and sent through a VPI record cleaner)
