RARE 1969 REGGAE WITH THE HIPPY BOYS HIGH NOTE RECORDS EXCELLENT

This rare 1969 release from High Note Records features 10 cracking tracks on this LP entitled Reggae with The Hippy Boys. The Hippy Boys were formed in 1968 by Lloyd Charmers. The band included guitarist Alva "Reggie" Lewis, organist Glen Adams and brothers Aston 'Family Man' Barrett on bass guitar and Carlton Barrett on drums. Upon the UK Singles Chart success of "Return of Django" in 1969, Lee "Scratch" Perry and The Upsetters were invited on a six-week tour of the UK. However, due to a clashing of schedules, the original Upsetters could not make the trip. The newly formed Hippy Boys became the new Upsetters for the tour; causing the band to be frequently confused with the original Upsetters in the future. The band also recorded with Max Romeo.

This vinyl is in excellent condition and shows signs of being enjoyed and listened too, despite several hairline surface marks doesnt have any significant deteriation in sound quality production. Both labels are very clean. The sleeve is in very good condition with some very light creasing and discoloration, indicative of its age. The reverse of the sleeve has two small peices of tape adhered to the top of the sleeve covering writing applied by a previous owner, see enlarged pictures. The spine is in tact. Catalogue number BSLP 5005.
