PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 16,000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original first 1970 pressing in THICK gatefold cover ... one of their *BEST* Lp's, the second, vastly underrated Climax Blues LP -- delivers a strong set...
Gospel Truth, Hipster Image, The Velvet Chords… hard to say these wonderfully evocative band names without smiling and imagining them emblazoned across posters in the heady days of the early to mid 60s. Hipster Image were impressing a lot of people in the Stafford area in the early 60s under the leadership of Colin Cooper on guitar, sax and vocals, at the cutting edge of the R& B Soul scene. Colin had previously been in charge of the Climax Jazz Band. Decca were impressed by Hipster Image and a single was released, produced by Alan Price. It didn’t prove to make any waves though and in fact marked the end of the road. Returning to Stafford, Colin formed Gospel Truth with a very young Peter Haycock, still at school but already proving to be a sensational guitarist, and John Cuffley on drums who had already featured on a hit 45 with Emile Ford’s Checkmates. Gospel Truth picked up where Hipster Image left off, but as the Blues Scene made waves again in the late 60s, Cooper and Haycock pointed the band in that direction and the Climax Chicago Blues Band was formed.

By the time of their second album ‘Climax Chicago Blues Band - Plays On’ shot off in varied directions wwhile rtainig their blues rocking style ... favourites are ‘City Ways’ which grooves along tremendously, and ‘So Many Roads’ which was to become a live staple and continues to be to this day. Also on this album, jazzy/bluesy & Cuban influences make it the album an interesting listen.
The band (originally known as the CLIMAX CHICAGO BLUES BAND) in 1969 featured a line up of COLIN COOPER (Vocals, Harmonica), PETE HAYCOCK (Guitar, Vocals), ARTHUR WOOD (Keyboards), DEREK HOLT (Bass, Mellotron), RICHARD JONES (Bass) and GEORGE NEWSOME (Drums).

CONDITION: The cover is rated: VG++ much more clean all over (minty actually) but downgraded for these little wear marks at bottom left corner (see photo #2) ...otherwise a winner here...PROMO sticker on front cover, no bends, no writing, no split seams, very colorful just like released in 1970
The vinyl is rated: all M- TOP COPY clean and plays SUPERB! Both Sire labels are clean without marks....
