Description
Super rare first recording of Gabby Pahinui Hawaiian Band's 33rpm LP "Gabby." Original gatefold album cover has minor amateur repair of split bottom edge with masking tape that does not obscure any text. Original inner sleeve is split and has minor yellowing from age. Vinyl disc in relatively good shape and recently cleaned of dirt, debris, and fingerprints. The music on this album is the Gabby of yesterday and today: the combinating of generations and sounds of Hawaii into a harmonious unit. Featured with Gabby are four of his sons: Bla, Philip, Cyril and Martin in their unique first recording session was held on Gabby's 51st birthday, April 22, 1972. Huilawe-1972 was first recorded by Gabby in 1947 when he was 26 years old, and this version is the first of his professional recordings.
