A rare opportunity for the serious collector. Here are 12 original 16 inch radio broadcast transcription records of the Hopalong Cassidy Show starring William Boyd, who was a social phenomenon in the late 1940s and early 1950s. These records were produced for commercial broadcast purposes only and were not generally available to the public.

Produced in Hollywood by Commodore Productions from January 1948 to December 1950, each record is pressed on red vinyl and plays at 331/3 rpm. These records were distributed to radio stations in Canada by S.W. Caldwell Ltd. from Toronto, where they were still broadcast into the mid and late 1950s. Almost all records are still in the original distributor sleeves. Visually the records appear to be in good condition.

A word of caution - because of their size 16” records cannot be played on most ordinary turntables. They require an extra-long tone arm with an unencumbered turntable.

These 12 records feature 11 complete episodes. So that the records would not have to be turned over during a broadcast they were released with 2 episodes on two records at a time - parts 1 of both episodes are on the first record and parts 2 for both episodes on the second record. This is true for all of the 12 records except for Episode 13 which comes on one side of two records with the B sides in this case consisting of a variety of static samples.
