PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! RARE MID '70s PROGRESSIVE FROM FINLAND!
((WIGWAM))
JIM PEMBROKE
CORPORAL CAULIFLOWERS MENTAL FUNCTION
FINLAND - LOVE RECORDS - 214
RARE ...CLEAN....Original mid '70s first pressing SOLO Lp by the leader of the legendary progressive band WIGWAM ...
Pembroke was the leader of Wigwam, and during their heyday in the early 70's, he made a a couple of solo albums that have the Wigwam sound, but are still rather distinct from the band's work; maybe in the same way that Van der Graaf Generator and Peter Hammill's solos are similar-yet-different. To continue the comparison, just as many of Hammill's solos included the members of VDGG, his mid '70s solo, includes main Wigwam members (Pekka Rechardt, Ronnie Osterberg) and Coste Apetrea (Samla Mammas Mana) among others. Recorded and released between Lucky Golden Stripes and Starpose and Dark Album, and even featuring members of Wigwam in some roles, it is no surprise that Corporal Cauliflowers Mental Function sounds familiar to those who know the aforementioned Wigwam albums. The difference is that all songs are now penned by Jim Pembroke. Another difference is that the music is not supposed to be performed by a 'progressive rock' act. Now, it is progressive, but it is easy to hear that Jim is mostly just doing his own thing while something from Wigwam's earlier prog -jazz-Canterbury rock flavour and stylings are still left as well.Corporal Cauliflowers Mental Function is livelier and more expressive than Dark Album. "Bertha Come Back" can easily be picked as the best track of the album. "Masquerade at the White Palace" contains an interesting middle section that reminds of a few late '60s Beatles and Kinks recordings. "Corporal Punishment", "All Over Too Soon" and especially "A Better Hold (and a Little View)" are quite good as well. "Earring Is Believing" has one of the funniest titles we have met recently, but it also has one interesting feature as it sounds like Jim's ex-bandmate Jukka Gustavson for a while – is it even a parody? Anyway, this album is interesting and contains worthy progressive rock tracks. Gotten hard to find - original press from Finland A: Corporal Punishment Bertha Come Back Island Town Masquerade at the White Palace Skobiit Party Civilised Session B: Knockknockknock (The Revolution of Love) All Over Too Soon Earring Is Believing A Better Hold (And a Little View) Goddammaddog (The Horse)
