Description
Rare and much sought after example of an original 78rpm German Propaganda Swing record. This a double-sided 10 inch (25cm) disc recorded and published in Berlin, Germany in late 1940. Both sides are by Charlie and his Orchestra and this record is one of the first in the Propaganda Swing series to feature the gold on maroon Clarinet and Mandoline label of Dr. Joseph Goebbels' Reich Ministry for Propaganda.
The series were recordings of popular jazz and swing numbers but with doctored lyrics to parody current news and events. The recordings were broadcast on German propaganda radio stations.
Side one is matrix 0105 "St. Louis Blues" (Haudy) [sic] and side two is matrix 0106 "Slumming on Park Avenue".
The record is in very good condition with clean labels. Minimal scuffing, scratches and surface abrasions.
