Description
Three single-sided 78rpm vinyl test pressings of a recording made during the concert of June 12, 1935. The great maestro, Arturo Toscanini, conducts the BBC Symphony in a performance of the Geminiani Concerto Grosso, Op. 30, #2. I've been a record collector for nearly 40 years and, to my knowledge, this performance has never been commercially released. The pressings are in pristine condition. The stamper numbers for the three recorded sides are: 2EA 2248, 2EA 2249, and 2EA 2250. This performance is FABULOUS and the recording captures all the passion, precision, and transparency of Toscanini and the BBC orchestra at their best. The records were probably never issued due to a recording engineer error that caused pitch problems for a few moments at the beginning of one of the sides. In spite of that, this is a tremendously rare and important document of Toscanini in performance that should not disappoint.
