Description
VINYL 78rpm pressings of Arturo Toscanini conducting WAGNER Tannhauser Overture and Venusberg Music. My disc sleeves indicate that the orchestra is the La Scala Orchestra. The sleeves also give the date of February 26, 1947. Further research into the HMV matrix numbers via the "AHRC Research Center for the History and Analysis of Recorded Music" reveals that this performance was recorded in Lucerne, Switzerland, on July 7, 1946 (the La Scala Orchestra is not mentioned, so I defer to Toscanini experts.) Discs are in near-mint condition with occasional tics and static. Apparently, these performances have appeared on CD from Iron Needle and Music and Arts, but here's YOUR chance to hear YOUR best transfer work on these historic performances. SEVEN single-sided vinyl discs comprise this performance. HMV matrix numbers are: 2EA 11673/9. Payment is requested within 3 days of INVOICE. PayPal only. Shipping is FREE.
