Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

SUPER RARE MONO 1968 first print - ADVANCED RELEASE PROMOTIONAL
SCARCE MONAURAL SONG MIXES!!! Mainstream Records had some of the finest garage/psych artists of the 60's psychedelic era. Growing Concern is one of those artists and their first and only album is among the finest psychedelic records on the famed label. Unfortunately this band never hit the big time and never got to release a second album. This really melodic and catchy psychedelic groover which is creamed with pop-sike influences. Nearly every song here is crafted perfectly. Even the Yardbirds-cover "Mister You're a Better Man Than I" is pretty amazing. Although virtually nothing is known of Growing Concern, their only album (Mainstream, 1968) is an enjoyable piece of West Coast psychedelic poprock. The opening track 'Hard, Hard Year' sets the tone for the album: it opens with melodic guitar work, which is joined first by bass, then by excellent keyboards; it also features beautiful female vocal harmonies from group members Bonnie MacDonald and Mary Garstki. 'Edge Of Time' features excellent fuzzed-up lead guitar work, as does 'Tomorrow Has Been Cancelled'; 'A Boy I Once Knew Well' is a moody lament, which again features fine vocal harmonies, keyboards, and guitar work. Overall, quite a good blend of sunshine psych, & moody but uplifting rock. The album is brilliantly recorded, and is of a consistently high musical quality. The band surely deserved a better fate than the obscurity to which they were consigned by the bizarre business practices of the Mainstream label.
Although formed primarily as a blues label, Mainstream Records released a number of interesting psychedelic albums in the late 60s. Some of the better of these include Bohemian Vendetta, The Jelly Bean Bandits, Art Of Lovin', and The Growing Concern! Pete Guerino (lead vocals, guitar),
Bonnie MacDonald (vocals),
Mary Garstki (vocals),
Ralph Toms (lead guitar),
John Pedley (bass),
Dan Passaglia (organ, vocals),
Ralph Williams (drums)
