Description:  I have the pleasure of offering for sale on E-Bay the rare Beatles first record album “Please Please Me” on the very scarce and rare Parlophone black and gold label 1st issue.  This record comes from a family archive collection, which I am now putting up for sale, giving someone else the opportunity to purchase and own this rare Beatles record.

Record Sleeve:

The sleeve has seen better day’s shows wear on the corners and on the back of sleeve with residue of old sellotape at bottom edge of sleeve and small bottom piece missing – (See photos for information).  This sleeve has the correct position of photo Angus Mcbean in right hand corner and with large mono top right, and printed by Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd.

Label:

The labels are in excellent condition with all Black and Gold printing labels showing little wear, all gold print readable with no writing or rubbing, there is no tax code on any side visible.  The record shows very little spindle wear. (see photos for information)

Record:

Record condition report I have played the record twice both sides and it as very good audio quality lies flat on the turntable, but with some important issues the record has many fine scratches on both sides one scratch starts on side 1 half way through track 2 (Misery) and finishes at the start of track 4 (Boys), although appearing more deeper than the rest and causing the tic sound over these 3 tracks when playing only really noticeable when the record changes tracks. Because all these tracks are high beat tempo tracks this tic sound doesn’t impair the audio sound of the Beatles Classic Record. There are no other Jumps, Skips or Pops sounds on the record, only this tic sound on side 1 over 3 tracks and on side 2 the tic sound on tracks 3 (Baby It’s You) and track 4 (Do You Want to Know a Secret). The record comes in its original Emitex poly-lined inner protection cover which has some creasing. (See photos for more information)

I am not a professional record dealer just selling family owned records, and have tried to give a full and honest account of the records condition.  My grading of these records is very good; with excellent sound quality - minus the previously mentioned faults -, and with poor grade for record sleeve, and excellent grade for gold labels. Not perfect but a very good example of this very rare Beatle’s first LP.  I will start this auction at £0.99, sold with no reserve and let the E-Bay market decide its value. The Record Grading

MINT:  The record itself is in brand new condition, I only grade sealed records in mint condition. The cover and any extra items are also unused in As NEW condition...

NEAR MINT:  A nearly perfect record, with only the slightest cosmetic flaw – no audible defect, Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects.

EXCELLENT:  The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.  The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional scratch.  Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached.
