RARE BEATLES Pocket Disc Hey Jude & Revolution Americom

This auction is for a vintage Pocket Discs made by Americom Corporation. It is a mini flexi record, only 3.75" in diameter. This particular disc is by the BEATLES and displays the apple logo by Capital Records. It features HEY JUDE on one side and REVOLUTION on the other. It is in good condition but may have some surface scratching on it from age. I have not tried it out so I am not sure how it plays. Similar versions are also called flexi-discs or Hip Pocket Records. It plays at 33 1/3 rmp and have a song on each side.

The Pocket Disc was manufactured by Americom from 1966 to 1969. If a song ran over three and one half minutes, it was edited in order for the format to accommodate it. Apparently the editing was done at the record company level, and not by Americom. The discs were available via Americom vending machines -- with the idea being that the instance of theft would be reduced. Each came in a generic (red or blue) Pocket Disc sleeve. They were competitors to the Hip-Pocket Records made by Philco. Several companies even made mini pocket record players for the discs. The Pocket-Disc comes in a cardboard sleeves that are 4"X4" and it reads pocket disc on one side and the other side reads:

Put me
in your pocket
and take me
out to play.
