Description
Here’s a very rare 78rpm album set by Bessie Smith! This is from 1937, one of the very first booklet-type album sets made. Whoever owned this set apparently rarely played it, if ever. The groove surfaces look practically brand new. It’s on the Columbia label, and features six discs: number 3171-D through 3176-D. Song titles are St. Louis Blues/Reckless Blues, Weeping Willow Blues/Careless Love Blues, There’ll Be A Hot Time In Old Town Tonight/Alexander’s Ragtime Band, Muddy Water/Money Blues, Yellow Dog Blues/Trombone Cholly, Back-Water Blues/Nobody Knows When You’re Down And Out. A couple small issues to report: a small area of separation on the spine that could probably be fixed with some Elmer’s glue (I’ll leave that up to you), and a very tiny rim bump on the “Hot Time In Old Town Tonight” disc… it doesn’t even get a quarter of the way into the trailoff, and certainly is nowhere near the music. I have taken pictures of both of these so you can see…they’re really pretty minor. The music features Louis Armstrong, Fletcher Henderson, Charlie Green, and many others. This set rarely turns up, especially in this condition! op me a message if ebay doesn’t calculate shipping for you. California residents add 8.225% tax. Happy bidding!! 78rpm
