CLEAN ... 1970 hard to find (especially clean like this) FIRST PRESSING in thick gatefold cover ... a strong BLUES-ROCK album with Chicken Shack crafting a fine blues-rock album... 46 years later, a very collectible album.
Chicken Shack was quite popular in the late '60s UK blooze-boom scene. The group managed placing two albums in the British Top 20. The front person of Chicken Shack was not Christine Perfect or John McVie, but guitarist Stan Webb, who would excite British audiences by jumping off stage and entering the crowds at performances, courtesy of his 100-meter-long guitar lead. Chicken Shack were signed to Mike Vernon's Blue Horizon label, a British blues pillar that had its biggest success with early Fleetwood Mac.
Chicken Shack was actually not far behind Fleetwood Mac in popularity in the late '60s, purveying a more traditional brand of Chicago blues, heavily influenced by Freddie King. Although Webb took most of the songwriting and vocal duties, organist Christine Perfect also chipped in with occasional compositions and lead singing. In fact, she sang lead on their only British Top 20 single, "I'd Rather Go Blind" (1969). Accept was the fourth album by the blues band, Chicken Shack, released in 1970. Accept was Chicken Shack's last album on the Blue Horizon label. This album was also the last for Andy Sylvester, Dave Bidwell and Paul Raymond as members of Chicken Shack who all three went over to Savoy Brown releasing fine bluesrock albums "Street Corner Talking" & "Hellbound Train" . Nevertheless, Chicken Shack's ACCEPT was slightly more diverse offering from their previous LP as a mix of blues and hard rock, with a quite accessible sound and overall, quite consistent. This album is first one with the real gem of Webb's music. His guitar is more present, and the blues of Chicken Shack catch some new elements, away from the classic blues of the beginning. There are great songs, just like the guitar snappin' "Maudie."
Overall a real strong album........
