VERY RARE ARCHIV PRODUKTION BACH MASS IN B MINOR (MESSE IN H-MOLL), 1961 - BWV 232

This handsome, and very elusive, three disc set comes in the original linen presentation box - together with a really beautiful 20 page (including both sides of the front and back covers) original informational booklet

Condition notes

Gradings are given as a guide based on the categories below. Where possible records are listened to before listing, otherwise I list as visual grading only. I try to be conservative so that you are happy with your purchase, however if you are in anyway unhappy then please let me know before leaving feedback.

RECORD: I am going to be hyper critical in assessing these as sound quality is much more important with these recordings. They are beautiful looking discs with a lovely clean black lustre, but I will look very closely and listen very hard for any extraneous noise. Casually I would easily categorise the whole set as EX  visually. I have done the best that I can on my Technics SL-B2!

disc 1: s1: (side 1) EX to EX minus (very faint surface marks which do not give loud pops or crackles but some noise may be heard) s2 (side 6): EX to EX minus as side 1

disc 2: s1: (side 2) EX to Ex Minus (very faint surface marks which do not give loud pops or crackles but some background noise may be heard) When placed on the platter with this side up the centre of the record is proud by a matter of 2-3 millimetres at the most meaining this disc is ever so slightly convex. This in no way affects the play. s2: (side 5) EX minus - there is slightly more background noise on this side, although the sound quality overall is beautiful

disc 3: s1 (side 3) EX minus s2: (side 4) Ex minus

BOX:VG PLUS TO EX MINUS. There is no damage to the box structure, it opens and closes tightly but there is some light wear and rubbing to the edges and corners along with a light discolouration to the edges / corners which can be seen in the photo

INNER SLEEVES: These have slightly yellowed with age

LABELS:  All in VG to EX condition, they do bear some very light scuff marks or wear visible on close inspection but are not written on stained etc

BOOKLET: EX condition.

Records are carefully wrapped. LPs are sent inside two cardboard stiffeners.

Singles are sent with a single cardboard stiffener, this will provide adequate protection for your record, however if you choose the First Class option I will use two cardboard stiffeners.

78rpm records are sent well packaged in a deep box with lots of extra packaging to reduce the likelihood of shattering on impact.

Grading System

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover or any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite notable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler.
