Description
This auction is for a VERY RARE CREDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL ACETATE of the C.C.R. LP, titled, 'WILLY AND THE POOR BOYS" (see pics). This rare acetate is number X4RS-9398 (side 1) and X4RS-9399 (side 2). This 12 inch LP has a aluminum disk core with acetate coating. There is no cover (likely never had one being a pre-production acetate). The disk itself looks to have been made by RCA CUSTOM RECORDS and then cut by GALAXY records (see pictures of labels). This pre-production acetate dates to 1969.
Willy and the Poor Boys was the fourth studio album by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, released by Fantasy Records in November 1969, and was the last of three studio albums that the band released in that year (Wikipedia).
The (10) songs on this acetate are:
SIDE 1:
DOWN ON THE CORNER, IT CAME OUT OF THE SKY, COTTON FIELDS, POORBOY SHUFFLE, FEELIN' BLUE
SIDE 2:
FORTUNATE SON, DON'T LOOK NOW (IT AIN'T YOU OR ME), MIDNIGHT SPECIAL, SIDE O THE ROAD, EFFIGY
Condition: Seller would grade this acetate VG+. The surface coating still shines (likely played very few times since is was produced). There are a couple of ultra light scratches on side one. There is also a very small spot on the edge of the disk where the aluminum can be seen. This acetate has been played by the seller (carefully) and all songs played without skipping or issues. There were some pops and snaps but was for the most part quiet during play.
NOTE: Acetates can be played on any normal record player but will suffer from wear more quickly than vinyl. Not recommended for regular play due to value and rarity.
